When I started to study the Bible to learn more about my new best friend, Jesus Christ, I recognized the inconsistencies between the several versions and translations of the Bible, and was puzzled. How could a book of this importance and history be interpreted in so many different ways? To be honest, I was shocked. Searching for the truth behind all this I started to read the German translation of the Septuagint, since “scientists” said, it was originating from the oldest available manuscripts, hoping to find it as close as possible to the “original Word of God”, as possible. But it was a funny experience to read this version. It was as if there was o no life in this text. I was missing something I couldn’t describe. Today I know it was the Holy Spirit that was missing. At the same time I was informing myself about the worldview behind Christianity. I was facing a fundamental conflict, since my education and therefore my worldview have been formed by naturalistic and evolutionary principles that denied God. But at the same time being open minded I listened to some YouTube videos about creationism and intelligent design. After a while I followed every debate about that I could find on the internet. More and more I discovered, that the most convincing point they told us in school and everywhere, why we don’t need to take the Bible serious, was it’s contradiction to “science”. But I found out these are plain lies. In particular because I always was interested in understanding systems and loved almost all fields of science, I was baffled to find out, that all this “knowledge” was indeed not contradicting the Bible at all, necessarily. It is only that looking at scientific knowledge was only allowed from a certain worldview. Looking at the same scientific data from a different perspective is possible, gives results that make sense (esp. if you are used to analyse complex systems) and even support this otehr other view, instead of contradicting it.

One of the most hated, young earth creationists out there, Kent Hovind, today residing in Lenox, Alabama, where he builds “Dinosaur Adventureland” Adventure-land” (take a look at http://www.drdino.com), caught my attention. His discussions with scientists and philosophers and his videos about creation science referenced me to more and more information about this “other” worldview. Turning me from being a strict naturalist to a young earth creationist in weeks.

Trying to transport the content and essence of the King James Version of 1611 into modern German language, and as many more languages as possible, we need to be as accurate as possible, while keeping the result understandable and, more important, readable.

To keep compromises we need to make as low and few as possible, a special kind of quality measure takes place in this project:

The German translation results are translated back to English, mainly by using automated translation. The result is dealt as a seperate separate new translation. The modern English is presented side by side, the same way as the German and the other translations. This enables even people that don’t speak German to check if the new English translation is a correct representation of what the KJV text from 1611 says. Thus enabling even more people to contribute and to check our results worldwide, especially those with intimate knowledge of the KJV of 1611. As a side effect we will have a “King James Version in New English” as a side product, that at the same time helps to keep a good quality of the German translation.
