“The brother of” is not found in the GreekHebrew. so So some critics state, the translators of the KJV added it “deliberately” to get around a contradiction, since David slew Goliath already and Goliath was a Philistine, while Elhanan slew Goliath the Gittite.

“And there was warre againe with the Philistines, and Elhanan the sonne of Iair, slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spearestaffe was like a weauers beame.“

Now we know, who the Gittite in the family of Goliath was: Lahmi. And he was Goliath's only brother (“the” brother, not “a” brother). Changing 2 Samuel 21:19 therefore was not adding to the Bible. It was explained in another part of the Word of God. We can be very sure of this, because, like a confirmation, the guy kille dby Elhana is described as “the staffe of whose speare was like a weauers beame” and “whose spearestaffe was like a weauers beame“. While David’s Goliath was bearing a sword.
